The utilization of a Building Information Model (BIM) is now widely accepted as the ideal means of reducing regeneration of data for use in detailed energy analysis (focusing on HVAC system load analysis, lighting design, power consumption, and computational fluid dynamics). WebAxis is tailored specifically for the project on which it is being used. Individual project schedules, Gantt charts, email alerts, documentation hosting, RFI logs, and project specific group contact lists are all easily integrated into one easy to use, easy to access site.

BIM Team Readiness Assessment

The BIM Team Assessment plays a vital role in determining the skills and capabilities of each and every team member. CADworks can perform skills and process assessments to determine each team member’s mastery of BIM software and design using BIM techniques. A deliverable of this “Gap Analysis” is a report detailing the team’s strengths and weaknesses and provides recommendations for training to improve specific skill levels.

BIM Execution Plan

The BIM Execution Plan (BEP) documents the standards and protocols for how the team (GC, AEC Firms and others) will work together in the design and construction of a project. The BEP will define the level of detail (LOD) to be modeled, file exchange processes, naming standards, the roles the different parties play in the modeling process, etc. The more thorough the BEP is prior to work commencing, the more smoothly the entire project will go. CADworks can assist in developing a BEP that meets both the GC and the team’s needs.

BIM Modeling

BIM Modeling represents the central focus of the effort in design and constructability analysis. CADworks employs architects, engineers, and other highly skilled professionals who can design BIMs from scratch, or who can convert 2D drawings to 3D BIMs.

BIM Validation

Often it makes good sense to have an outside party validate any and all BIMs that have been developed at key points throughout a project. CADworks can review designs to ensure that the proper Level of Detail (LOD), naming standards, and other design methods are properly documented. CADworks can serve as that neutral, outside party to perform BIM Validation. Often, our BIM Validation will also serve to coach the design team on the improved use of the BIM software.

BIM Coordination Meeting Facilitation

Coordination meetings represent an essential process that allows teams to resolve clashes before they are identified in the field. Effective collaboration meetings can save (depending on project size) hundreds of thousands of dollars, which provides increased profitability to all contracting teams. These meetings can happen in person or they can even be effectively conducted using web-based collaboration tools. CADworks can instruct general contractors and other team leaders in the effective oversight of Coordination meetings.

BIM Mentoring
